Small loans in South Wales
Learn about Fairwood’s local lending, who can apply, weekly and monthly repayments, and how to check whether we serve your area.
A family-run lender based in Swansea
Fairwood Finance is a family-run lender serving communities in South Wales. The company was incorporated in 1979 and is now run by the second generation of the Thomas family. Our registered office is in Killay, Swansea. Local, personal support is part of how we work, whether you prefer to talk remotely or ask about a home visit.
Check whether we cover your address
Fairwood considers applications from people aged 21 or over living in the South Wales area we serve. Living in South Wales does not by itself confirm that we cover your address. Contact us to check your area before making plans to borrow.
Use our repayment calculator to explore repayment options and the total amount repayable.
What could a small loan cost?
New Fairwood customers start with a £200 loan, subject to an affordability assessment. Returning customers can be considered for different amounts depending on repayment history and their circumstances today. A higher amount is never automatic.
Use our calculator to compare the amount borrowed, repayment frequency, number of payments and total repayable. Compare the full cost as well as the weekly or monthly amount: a smaller regular payment can still mean paying more altogether.
Weekly repayments and home collection
Fairwood offers weekly or monthly repayment options. Payments can be made by card or bank transfer. If you choose home collection, a local agent can collect a weekly cash payment at a home visit. You can ask us to explain the available options before deciding what suits you.
A home visit is not required to complete every application: the process can be completed remotely. Ask us if you would prefer to speak face to face.
Affordability comes before a lending decision
A previous decline or poor credit history does not automatically prevent an application, but approval is never guaranteed. Fairwood considers your current circumstances and whether the repayment looks manageable. Open Banking helps us understand your income and spending, with your permission. Fairwood never asks for your online-banking password.
Borrow only if the repayments fit alongside essential bills and other commitments. If you are already struggling with repayments, contact your lender for support before considering further borrowing.
