Your loan

Borrowing and weekly costs

Start with the amount you can apply for and what it could cost each week.

How much can I borrow?

At Fairwood, lending is personal. New customers start with £200. If you borrow from us again, we get to know you and your circumstances over time. We look at how previous Fairwood loans have been repaid, what your income and spending look like today, and whether the next repayment is manageable. If your first loan has gone smoothly and a higher repayment still works for your budget, we may be able to offer you more when you borrow again.

Returning customers can apply online for up to £1,000, but a larger loan is never automatic or guaranteed. Very occasionally, we may be able to consider more for a long-standing customer, but we’ll always talk it through and complete a fresh affordability assessment first. You can see the repayment and total cost before you apply.

How much will I repay?

For a new customer borrowing £200, the calculator opens at £12 a week for 25 weeks, with £300 total repayable. You can switch to £18 a week for 15 weeks, with £270 total repayable, or choose monthly repayments. Returning customers can choose an amount and see the exact repayment, interest and total repayable before applying.

I have borrowed from Fairwood before. How much can I apply for?

Returning customers can apply online for between £100 and £1,000. If a previous Fairwood loan has gone smoothly and a higher repayment still works for your budget, we may be able to offer you more when you borrow again. The amount available will depend on your repayment history with us, your income and spending today, and whether the new repayment is manageable.

The shorter 15-week or three-month option is available up to £400. From £500, Fairwood offers the 25-week, 48-week, six-month or 12-month options. Very occasionally, we may be able to consider more for a long-standing customer, but we’ll always talk it through and complete a fresh affordability assessment first. A larger loan is never automatic or guaranteed.

Before you apply

Applying with Fairwood

Find out who can apply, what information we need and what happens next.

Can I apply if I have poor credit or have been declined elsewhere?

A poor credit history or a previous decline elsewhere does not automatically stop you from applying. As a small, family-run lender, Fairwood takes time to understand you as a person—not just a credit score or something that happened in the past. Open Banking helps us understand your income and spending today and check that the repayment looks manageable.

Who can apply, and does Fairwood cover my area?

Fairwood offers loans to people aged 21 or over who live in the South Wales area we serve. If that’s you, you can start your application online. We’ll look at your circumstances and check that the repayments are affordable.

What happens after I apply?

After you submit an application, Fairwood will contact you by email to explain what happens next. If we need account information to continue, we’ll send you a secure Open Banking link. We’ll explain the decision, the agreement and your repayment options, including home collection if you prefer. You can also ask for a home visit.

What is Open Banking, and why do I need it?

Open Banking is a secure way to share the account information Fairwood needs to understand your income and spending. It removes the need to find, photograph or send bank statements. You sign in with your bank, and Fairwood never sees your online-banking password. Read our Open Banking guide for the full explanation.

Will I need a home visit?

No. Your whole application can be completed remotely. If you would rather speak face to face, a local Fairwood agent can visit you at home.

If you fall behind with your payments, a local Fairwood agent will normally arrange to visit you at home so we can understand what has happened and agree the best way forward. We’ll always take your individual circumstances into account.

How quickly could I receive the money?

Once everything is agreed, in most cases the money will be in your bank account within 48 hours. Timing can vary depending on your circumstances.

After your decision

Repayments and support

Understand the weekly repayment, early settlement and where to get help.

Can I choose weekly or monthly repayments?

You can choose to repay weekly or monthly. Changing how often you pay does not change the total amount repayable for the loan you select; it changes the number and amount of the repayments. You can pay by card or bank transfer, or, if you prefer a home visit, a local agent can collect a weekly payment in cash.

Can I repay my loan early?

If you want to repay early, ask your local agent for an up-to-date settlement figure before making the payment. They will explain the amount due and what happens next.

What should I do if I am worried about a repayment?

Contact Fairwood as soon as possible. We will listen to what has changed and explain the support that may be available. You can also read our responsible-lending information and complaints process.

Is Fairwood regulated?

Fairwood Finance Limited appears in FCA-published material under firm reference number 706116. The legal and responsible-lending information on this site explains the details that apply to this service.
